1. About us
What is the Amicale?
The Amicale is a registered, not-for-profit charity at André Malraux, run by parent volunteers (Trustees) whose main objective is to organise and run after-school activities at an affordable price.
What does the Amicale do?
First and foremost, the Amicale organises and runs after-school activities at an affordable price – most clubs cost between £10 and £13 per session. Through close collaboration with several internal and external providers, it offers a varied timetable throughout the week, with multiple options for most age groups. The programme includes activities across STEM, sport, and the arts.
Additionally, the Amicale runs and funds regular projects throughout the year, such as:
- Fête de la musique
- Drawing competition for the agenda cover
- André Malraux Yearbook
- CE2 bikeability
Other extras offered and paid for in full by the Amicale:
- Christmas show
- Christmas tree
- Santa’s visit, bringing Christmas gifts to each class (chosen by the teachers and paid for by the Amicale)
- Aquarium maintenance
- School agenda (from CE1)
- Books for Les Incorruptibles (from primary)
- CM2 graduation (hoodies, dedicated yearbook)
Please note that the Amicale is not involved in the Téléthon fundraiser, the boulangerie and arts & crafts sale stands, or the end-of-year Kermesse.
What’s the difference between the Amicale, the APL, and the CIPL?
The Amicale is a registered charity, run by parent volunteers, which runs the after-school clubs.
The APL and CIPL are parents’ associations whose purpose is to represent parents with the school administration. More details on the mission of the APL and CIPL can be found on their respective websites.
2. Trustees & Getting Involved
Who are the Trustees?
The Trustees are Gaia Rizzo (Chair), Clelia Lancelot Saint Cluque (Secretary), Monika Walker, Margot Wastnage, and John Arvanitis, elected or confirmed at the past Annual General Meeting. We all volunteer our time, ranging from a few hours a week to a couple of hours a day during peak periods.
Why do Trustees book their children into clubs before registration opens?
Because Trustees are busy handling registration logistics and supporting other parents during the registration window, they are unable to register their own children at that time.
Who decides who the Trustees are?
As a parent of a child enrolled at André Malraux, you are a member of the Amicale with the right to vote. Trustees can be nominated and voted for at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Attending the AGM gives you a say in how the Amicale is run.
I want to help – what can I do?
With families joining and leaving, and many ongoing projects, we always need new volunteers! Please email Trustees@amicale-malraux.com and we can discuss how you can get involved.
I have an idea for a new project – what can I do?
That’s great – please fill in this form: Amicale Project Proposal Form. We’ll be happy to discuss it with you.
3. Clubs Overview
Where can I find the list of clubs on offer?
All information about the current club offer, a description of each club, and the planned registration dates can be found on our website: L’Amicale André Malraux – École André Malraux’s Parents’ Association.
We also send out a draft schedule at the end of the previous school year’s final term, so parents can start planning ahead if they wish.
4. Registration & Enrolment
When does registration open?
For the first time this year (2026-2027), we have moved the start date for all clubs forward to the 7th of September. Registration will therefore open on the 1st of September. More details will be shared in the WhatsApp class groups and by the secretary via email at the end of August.
How does registration work?
There will be a dedicated time slot to book activities for each specific day of the week (due to website restrictions). At the start time of each slot, go to the Amicale website, navigate to ‘After School Activities – Term 1’, select the club you want to register for, and fill in the form. Then proceed to payment.
Please remember to add emergency contacts and the names of anyone allowed to pick up your child.
You will receive a first email acknowledging the booking; this will only be considered finalised once payment has gone through (a second email with the subject ‘Booking Confirmed’ will then be sent – this may arrive later than the first).
Is there priority enrolment?
There is no priority for the first term (T1); registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
From T2 onwards, children already enrolled in a club have priority when confirming registration for the following term (a code will be shared ahead of registration).
I didn’t manage to get a spot in the club I wanted – what do I do?
Places are limited for all clubs, either due to provider requirements or to ensure appropriate supervision and safety.
Please email contact@amicale-malraux.com to let us know – we’ll be happy to help you find a suitable club for your child.
5. Safety & Safeguarding
How do you ensure children are safe during clubs?
All our providers are DBS-checked, and we follow safer recruitment guidance. All of our providers and supervisors have completed safeguarding training.
We have a club manager on-site during club hours who ensures our safety and safeguarding policies are followed at all times. You can review our policies and Terms and Conditions at https://www.amicale-malraux.com/terms-and-conditions/.
I have a complaint about something that happened during a club – what do I do?
If you are on-site, please notify the club manager directly or message them at 07858255676. You can also email contact@amicale-malraux.com.
6. Attendance & Pickup
How does my child get to their club(s)?
Children are picked up and dropped off at their club(s) by members of the school’s supervisor team.
Once children have settled into their clubs, older year groups are allowed to walk there unaccompanied.
My child goes to Aktiva’s after-school club – can they still take part in Amicale clubs?
Yes, they can attend Amicale clubs. Once they’ve finished their Amicale club for the day, they will be dropped off at Aktiva by a member of the supervisor team. Supervisors keep a note on the register of which children go to Aktiva after their Amicale activity.
My child isn’t going to their registered club today – what do I do?
Please send a message to the club manager at 07858255676 so they can inform the providers/supervisors.
I need my child to be picked up by someone other than me today – what do I do?
Please send a message or call the club manager on 07858255676 (call between 3.30pm to 5pm Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday or between 1.10pm to 3pm on Wednesday) so they can inform the providers/supervisors. Please note that we cannot release a child to anyone not listed as an approved adult during registration.
I’m running late to pick up my child – what do I do?
Please contact the club manager. Note that the Amicale has to pay supervisors overtime to care for your child when you are late, and this cost will be passed on to the parent as a small fine.
7. Fees & Payments
The club is too expensive / the price is higher than last year!
Club prices are primarily set by the providers.
This year, some clubs may see a small increase in fees, reflecting annual increases in provider costs and the expense of delivering safe, high-quality activities.
If cost is a barrier for your family, please email trustees@amicale-malraux.com to let us know, and we will try to help.
The club I registered for has been cancelled – what do I do now?
Each club can only run if a minimum number of participants is reached. If there are too few registrations, the club is not economically viable and we have to cancel it. In this case, we will email you to let you know that the club you registered for is not running, and propose alternative options.
How does the Amicale use the income generated from the clubs?
The Amicale gathers funds from after-school club fees. Most of the money parents pay goes towards covering the clubs (approximately 90%), with a small margin used for running costs and reinvested in the school – funding most of the extracurricular activities you’ll see throughout the year (the agenda, the yearbook, Christmas shows and gifts, Les Incorruptibles from primary, etc.).
